About
A family atelier with a modern eye.
Our origin
Three generations in one atelier.
MATAN is a family atelier founded in 2019 on the edge of Istria. We started with a single cutting table and one intention — to make a bra that leaves no marks on the shoulders at the end of the day.
Four years later, our Rijeka atelier holds three cutting tables, a team of seventeen people and a patience measured in dozens, sometimes hundreds, of fittings per piece.
Our work is quiet. We don't put logos on the waistband. We don't believe in fast new collections. Most of our designs live across multiple seasons, adjusting but never disappearing.
We cut with Mediterranean attention: Italian microfibre, Austrian lace, hand-finished straps. And above all, a pattern that rests on the body instead of squeezing it.
Our approach
Quiet rules.
Six rules of approach that keep quality and responsibility high. Nothing loud, nothing forced.
Six rules, repeated.
Fit first, always.
A beautiful piece that doesn't sit right is a beautiful mistake.
No waste we can't justify.
Deadstock, offcuts and samples are never thrown out — they're repurposed in collaborations.
One cut over seasons.
If a silhouette is working, we keep it. We don't reinvent for the sake of it.
Small batches, honest stock.
We make what we can sell. We don't pile.
European fabrics, European seams.
Italian microfibre, Austrian lace, Slovenian cotton. Stitched in the EU.
Label as a whisper.
No logos on the waistband. No logos on the strap. Just the work.
